400km Port to Port Bike Ride

 In Fundraising Events

In a gruelling challenge to raise funds for heart health, 21 cyclists rode 400km over just 2 days in MonashHeart’s Port to Port bike ride from Mildura to Echuca in November.

All participants completed the ride, with four achieving a personal best distance ridden. John Koutsoubos, Operations Manager, MonashHeart participated and enjoyed the camaraderie amongst the riders.

“For me it was not only very fulfilling to have completed the whole 400km, but also to appreciate the true value of teamwork,” John said. “Without the stronger riders protecting the less experienced riders, forming a protective barrier to the headwind and helping us through the pain, I would not have made it. “It has given me a new-found appreciation of the strength of teamwork and what can be achieved when working as one”. Cyclists came from all walks of life; nurses, cardiac technicians, doctors, IT specialists, accountants, builders and bankers – even a former patient. Together they raised over $35,000 for new MonashHeart blood pressure monitors – a wonderful accomplishment.

Heartfelt thanks to all donors, sponsors and supporters for making this such a fundraising and funraising success!
