Dr Tony White is an academic interventional cardiologist who completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne, with subsequent physician and cardiology training at Royal Melbourne Hospital. He completed a PhD into biomechanical and genetic markers of coronary plaque instability, and an interventional cardiology fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne.
Tony spent three years (2007-2009) at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California as a CJ Martin NHMRC post-doctoral fellow, working in the area of cardiac regeneration research.
Tony’s research work has been published in The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, JACC Cardiovascular Interventions, Atherosclerosis, and Cardiovascular Research, and he has been awarded a competitive three year NHMRC project grant.
In addition to his role as a clinician, Tony is involved in mentoring and supervision of research students. He co-ordinates the BMedSc (Hons) program at the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health. The BMedSc (Hons) is a degree for which medical students extend their medical degree by one year to complete a research project. He has guided one PhD student and two BMedSc (Hons) students to successful completion of their degrees.
