Dr Garry Barron is originally from New Zealand, where he attended the University of Otago. The plan was for surgical training following his part 1 FRACS but fate intervened. He undertook his advanced cardiology training in Christchurch. In 1996 Garry moved to Australia to undertake a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Monash Medical Centre for two years.
Garry was the Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Dandenong Hospital for four years and the Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at the Valley Private Hospital for many years. He has been training interventional fellows for 19 years. His interests are in general cardiology and coronary interventions. Garry has managed the cardiological care of patients in partnership with general practitioners in the south east area of Melbourne for over 19 years.
