Dr John Gelman is a senior visiting cardiologist at MonashHeart, Monash Health and the former director of echocardiology (1989-2007). He is a consultant cardiologist at Cabrini Hospital, Melbourne and directs a private echo service in Gippsland.
John graduated from Monash University, trained at Prince Henry’s and The Alfred hospitals (including the Clinical Research Unit, Baker Institute) and completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida, USA. He has obtained the Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound and has been an examiner for ASUM. He is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography, invited journal reviewer and speaker at national and international echo courses and meetings.
His major interests include the training and teaching of clinical echocardiography and 3D echo guidance for percutaneous cardiac therapies.
