Dr Yuvaraj Malaiapan completed his subspecialty training in cardiology at Penang Hospital, Malaysia, subsequently undertaking interventional training at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. He was appointed as Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories and Interventional Cardiology, MonashHeart in 2005. In 2007, Yuvaraj became the Head of Interventional Services, MonashHeart.

Yuvaraj has won a number of Asia-pacific awards for his research in small vessel stenting and has published in the areas of coronary stenting and transradial left main percutaneous angioplasty. His areas of interest are in the care of patients with acute myocardial infarction, intravascular ultrasound especially of the left main stem and complex transradial coronary intervention. His non invasive cardiology interest is in the management of difficult to treat hypertension and metabolic syndrome. Yuvaraj completed his level 2 training in cardiac CT with the CVCTA/MonashHeart team in 2010, joining the reporting team in 2011.
