How can I access my personal information?

MonashHeart is required to collect and manage health information and to ensure the privacy of your health information in accordance with the Health Records Act. The Health Records Act and Freedom of Information Act give you an enforceable right of access to your health record.

I am in Australia on a visa and do not have a Medicare card. Can I have my tests done at MonashHeart? How much will it cost?

Yes, you can have your tests done at MonashHeart. Please contact the MonashHeart billing supervisor on 03 9554 8611 for details of costs and payment options.

Who should I call if I have further questions?

For outpatient tests, please call 1300 MHEART (1300 643 278) and select the site where your test is to be performed.

For questions regarding cardiac catheterisation laboratory procedures please call 03 9594 2684.

Will I be billed for my test/procedure?

The following diagnostic cardiac tests are bulk billed through Medicare  (there is no cost  to the patient).

  • 12-lead ECG
  • loop event monitoring
  • Holter monitoring
  • exercise stress test
  • chest CT for cardiac procedures
  • coronary angiogram
  • transthoracic echocardiography
  • transoesophageal echocardiography
  • exercise stress echocardiography
  • dobutamine echocardiography


An out-of-pocket fee is incurred for:

  • 24-hour blood pressure monitoring ($60) (no Medicare item number)
  • pacemaker and implantable cardiac device clinic
  • home monitoring of devices (annual fee) (no Medicare item number)
  • cardiac CT ($500) (no Medicare item number)
  • private consultation (with cardiologist or cardiac surgeon)
