Are child care services available?

There are no child care services available at any of our sites. Please ask a friend or relative to look after your child/children when attending a test or procedure appointment.

Are parking facilities available at MonashHeart sites?

All three MonashHeart sites have public car parking facilities. Fees apply.
All three sites also have a patient drop-off area immediately outside the front door of the hospital.

Can I use my mobile phone while in MonashHeart?

We ask that you turn off your mobile phone when in MonashHeart to ensure it does not affect our sensitive cardiac equipment.

How can I access my personal information?

MonashHeart is required to collect and manage health information and to ensure the privacy of your health information in accordance with the Health Records Act. The Health Records Act and Freedom of Information Act give you an enforceable right of access to your health record.

How can I contact the hospital chaplain / seek spiritual support?

Chaplaincy services are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week at all of our sites. Please contact the chaplaincy and pastoral care co-ordinators:

Each hospital has a Sacred Space where patients, visitors and staff of all religious denominations can visit day or night for prayer, meditation or quiet time.  Please ask a MonashHeart staff member for details.

How can I share feedback – compliments or concerns with MonashHeart?

If you would like to lodge a complaint or share a compliment, please complete the consumer feedback form (Southern Health website).

In order to improve our services, we encourage all patients to fill out our patient satisfaction survey. While we will positively acknowledge the good work of those who have done well, we also seek to improve our care if our service has not been satisfactory.

How do I make a booking?

Fax, scan and email, post or drop off your doctor’s referral at a MonashHeart site. Bookings for exercise stress tests can only be made once we have received a copy of your doctor’s referral to ensure you are booked in for the correct test.

What are my rights and responsibilities when receiving services?

Our staff work in partnership with consumers to achieve the best possible care. As a consumer, you will need to know what to expect from MonashHeart, our services and staff. It is also important for you to understand what your rights and responsibilities are when receiving our services. The Southern Health Rights and Responsibilities brochure (Southern Health website) outlines your rights and responsibilities as a consumer of MonashHeart health care services.

What if I (or the patient) does not understand or speak English?

MonashHeart has access to a large number of interpreters. Call 1300 MHEART (1300 643 278) at least a day before your appointment and select the site where your test or procedure will be performed. We will make arrangements for an interpreter to be present on the day of your test / procedure.

Where can I access an ATM?

All three MonashHeart sites have an ATM located in the hospital’s main foyer. A branch of the Police Credit Co-operative is located on level one of Monash Medical Centre Clayton.

Where can my family or friends find nearby accommodation?

  • The Wright Street Flats provide motel style accommodation opposite Monash Medical Centre, Clayton for immediate family members or carers who reside 100 kilometres or more away. A flat can be booked by calling Social Work at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton on 03 9594 2290.
  • Ronald McDonald House, Monash is located next to Monash Medical Centre, Clayton and provides accommodation for the families of children attending for a cardiac procedure or children with a serious illness. Rooms can be booked by calling 03 9562 6223.

Where do I find the public café?

Zouki Café is located at all three of our sites and is open to the public from 6:00am to 8:00pm on weekdays and from 7.30am to 7:00pm on weekends (closed weekends at Casey Hospital).

Where do I get more information about my test or procedure?

We have developed a number of easy-to-read patient information booklets about many of our tests, procedures and heart conditions.

Where is MonashHeart?

  • MonashHeart Clayton is located at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton on level two. Enter via the main door of the hospital, turn left at Zouki Café. MonashHeart is located down the corridor on the right.
  • MonashHeart Dandenong is located at Dandenong Hospital on the third floor. Enter via the main door of the older Dandenong Hospital main building, take the lift on the left to the third floor. MonashHeart is on the right.
  • MonashHeart Casey is located at Casey Hospital on the ground floor opposite the Emergency Department. From the car park, enter via the door adjacent to the Emergency Department. MonashHeart is located immediately to the left of the corridor.
