Summary of qualifications, experience and current interests

Associate Professor Sujith Seneviratne MBBS, FRACP, FCSANZ

Associate Professor Sujith Seneviratne completed his undergraduate medical degree at University of Melbourne in 1996. He undertook his general cardiology training at Wellington Hospital in New Zealand and interventional cardiology training at MonashHeart, Melbourne. Dr Seneviratne has also completed a research fellowship in cardiac CT at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston USA achieving level 3 competency.

Associate Professor Seneviratne was the Director of Coronary Care Unit at Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane prior to being appointed as the Head of Cardiac CT services and as an Interventional Cardiologist at MonashHeart in 2008. He is also in private practice with Melbourne Heart Care in Brighton and East Bentleigh as well as with MonashHeart Dandenong.

Associate Professor Seneviratne is known nationally and internationally for his work in cardiac CT and has published widely including, JACC, Circ Imaging, AJC, ATVB and Heart. He has also been an invited speaker at a number of local and international meetings and his main research interests include the role of cardiac CT in the setting of acute chest pain and CT stress perfusion. He also has a keen interest in teaching and has been a key member of the joint CT courses run by CVCTA and MonashHeart, and in providing practical training in cardiac CT to both cardiologists and radiologists around the country.

Associate Professor Seneviratne was a recipient of The National Heart Foundation of New Zealand Fellowship in 2006 and is a fellow of the CSANZ. He is currently the regional representative for Victoria for the Australian arm of SCCT (Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography).
