Biography:
Dr Adam Brown is an academic interventional cardiologist who specialises in the management and risk stratification of patients with coronary artery disease. Adam graduated from the University of Cambridge and undertook his cardiology training at the internationally renowned Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. His PhD at the University of Cambridge focused on technologies that improve our ability to identify patients at the highest risk of heart attacks. Adam subsequently moved to Melbourne in early 2016 to pursue an interventional fellowship at MonashHeart. His major clinical interest is in using intravascular imaging to improve outcomes of patients undergoing angioplasty and he teaches on this topic regularly throughout Australia. Adam also has a strong interest in cardiovascular research. His academic work is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC); having held previous prestigious research fellowships from both the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and the Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS). His research uses novel engineering approaches and intravascular diagnostics to investigate changes in coronary physiology and coronary plaque growth. Adam has published over 100 peer reviewed journal articles, written four book chapters and is directly responsible for the supervision of three PhD students at Monash University. Adam’s current practice blends his specialist and research interests in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, along with the management of general cardiology conditions. Adam spends what little free time he has with his wife and young family. He previously had a love of golf, although he appreciates his skills are declining rapidly through lack of practice!
